Thrilled. But it's a job and he will do what he must. [though she really can't approve. But they needed the money. Certainly being a librarian wasn't enough to send Twilight or Cross anywhere near important in terms of quality university]

Perhaps something interesting will come along? A juicy murder or crime syndicate. And good, perhaps... Cross-chan is considering joining the baseball team and I was wondering if you would work with him.

And of Selphie's own happiness? Would you deny her that?

Of course not, but I don't see how her happiness will be helped by being in the line of danger from dating jerks.

Considering your definition of 'jerks' seems to be the male gender entirely, I wonder if she has a lot of option. [she leans over and ruffles Smoker's hair]

But a young girl must be free to make her own choices and mistakes. That's how she'll learn to tell good from bad and what she truly desires.
