[Robin is sitting at her desk with a curious dog in her lap. Yes, that is a mustache. She looks neutral though the dog looks faintly worried--or perhaps constipated--it's difficult to tell]

For those who don't know, Marco has been kidnapped. Let's hope he comes back as something bearable, ne? But I would prepare for the worst. The Malnosso have been too kind lately. [She pets the dog's head lightly as if this doesn't bother her overly much]

A lesson to all you new feathers, the Malnosso will come for you one day without fail. There is no fighting them yet, though of course you should try. Don't allow yourself to be taken easily. However, when that time comes, you will be taken in--experimented on, tortured perhaps--you may remember it, you may not. You may be changed, you may not. Either way, your existence will be altered.

Though, on the bright side, the effects are usually temporary. After all, there's no point in permanently incapacitating a test subject when they are needed for further use.

I know it's natural, but maybe if everyone could actually hold back just for once, then maybe they'll hold back more during their next experiment or whatever. It's at least worth a try, but it's impossible since even if someone told everyone to stay calm, they'd still panic.

It's difficult to hold back when your heart is breaking.

.. I think everyone knows that feeling. [ of course she does too, she may pretend to be unfeeling but it's not like she's really like that. ]

But if some of us can bear it, then everyone can as long as they'd try, I'm sure.

Everyone is different. Some can bear the weight alone. Some can bear it only with others. And some not at all.

Well, I'd say that no one has a shortage of "others" in this place.

Perhaps. Are you referring to friends or romantic states? [Though she's lightly teasing at this]

[ Hm. She's not sure if that makes it less embarassing -- maybe a little bit. She's just not used to the whole love stuff despite having been together for a long time by now. ]

Yeah, I met him here in this place, after all. [ Even though they're.. technically from the same world, but it's difficult. ] .. And yours?

Yes. I met him here as well. [and they are also ...technically from the same world. But it's difficult indeed] But he is gone at the moment. Taken by the Malnosso.

You mean.. you're engaged to Marco? [ otherwise it would just be a dumb coincidence, but it's a pretty valid guess, right? ] Are you that Robin he talks about sometimes?

[He will talk about her, won't he? To everyone it seems. But it's somewhat amusing now.]

I am. And I suppose I must be unless there is another Robin I don't know about.

That'd be sort of awkward. Cheating on the person you're engaged to with some other person with the same name.. [ It's half a joke. Just in Ange's usual deadpan way. ]

.. I'm glad though in that case. [ Mostly since Marco's a friend of hers, and-- ] You both seem like reasonable people, so I'm sure you'll be happy together.

I'd kill him. [A half joke. Just in Robin's usual morbid way]

Hmm. It's difficult, though. Phoenixes can live for thousands of years. Perhaps they are even unable to die. Unfortunately, I don't have the same trait.

How about aging? [ Sure, she does know the whole phoenix deal, but it's never like they talked about it in depth. ] Would he even get older when you do?

As for that I have no idea. [She's never considered it before. But she does now. Would he still even want-- Well. She won't think about that now]

In any case when we return to our world, neither of us will remember. There is a chance that we'll never even meet. So here is the only time we have.

[ For a moment she's quiet. She has actually thought about that before, about what'll happen once she and Keiichi went home too, but.. he said he would remember her no matter what. It's a naive and foolish hope, she knows it, but.. she still wants to hang onto it. ]

Don't you think there's maybe a chance you'll remember..? Maybe later on we'll be able to find a proper way out of this place that will let people keep their memories of this place.

[Silence on her end as she thinks. This kind of question she used to know the answer to but...]

I don't know... On one hand, there are so many terrible things here to be remembered and people lost. People that we will never see again. On the other hand...

[There is...there is the feeling that Marco gives her. Not more than nakama but different. A strange kind of warmth. And to give that up...]

It's a difficult thing...

If it's about the choice of whether or not to remember, I definitely want to remember. [ She's already made up her mind on that long ago. Even though she's been miserable here, even though she's suffered so many times-- ] I have things I can't give up on, after all. So if I need to take the bad things too to have that, then that's fine with me.

You're very strong. As a historian I feel I should want to remember. To want everyone to remember their own history. But I can't seem to bring myself to feel that way completely.

{she smiles faintly]

But I wish you the best in remembering everything you choose to. To not let a single moment slip through your fingers.

[ .. Yeah, she can understand why some people would want otherwise. Honestly, she might have wanted otherwise a long time ago. Part of her, at least. It's why she can understand the point of view even though she no longer shares it. ]

So.. is this the part where I say "thanks"?
