For those who don't know, Marco has been kidnapped. Let's hope he comes back as something bearable, ne? But I would prepare for the worst. The Malnosso have been too kind lately. [She pets the dog's head lightly as if this doesn't bother her overly much]

A lesson to all you new feathers, the Malnosso will come for you one day without fail. There is no fighting them yet, though of course you should try. Don't allow yourself to be taken easily. However, when that time comes, you will be taken in--experimented on, tortured perhaps--you may remember it, you may not. You may be changed, you may not. Either way, your existence will be altered.

Though, on the bright side, the effects are usually temporary. After all, there's no point in permanently incapacitating a test subject when they are needed for further use.

What is it you do in your world?

I study Pokemon as a profession, more specifically the relationship they share with their trainers. I also collect data for my research in hopes of finding new secrets to better understand their connection to the world.

[Already he's learning so much in the days spent in Luceti, like new moves and type combinations, as well as a couple of new species from another region]

My dream is to fill the Pokedex with every Pokemon known to man, though it may not be a possibility now with no way of returning home.

You will likely be sent home eventually with no memory of this place--all on Malnosso whim, of course.

In any case, that sounds like an impressive dream, but what are...Pokemon?

Perhaps it is a blessing to know nothing of Luceti... and a curse. The former because of war, experiments, kidnappings, and whatever else the Malnosso have in mind. The latter because the relationships and friendships others have gained during their stay here, whether positive or negative, will be lost... It's a double-edged sword.

[To Oak, there are more pros than cons in having your memory wiped clean about this unforgiving prison. But then again, he haven't been here for months or years like some others have. He has yet formed any friendships or anything of that sort, but even if he had, is it still worth forgetting it all to return home to a normal life?]

...I got a bit off track there. You wanted to know about Pokemon, right? They are creatures big and small with innate abilities and unique attributes that distinguishes one from the other. Some are able to manipulate the elements while others have immense strength that can rival the strongest human. Some can even teleport or speak the human language, but that isn't what makes them special. They're loyal and trustworthy creatures whom we cherish with our hearts. No trainer could ever say that they can live without their Pokemon.

[She has talked enough about Malnosso and repercussions and swords. She is ready for a conversation that is different and--if not uplifting-at least distracting. These Pokemon creatures sound fascinating, however]

So they are...pets? Do other animals in your world have similar abilities or were these...created?

[Fortunately Robin doesn't have to worry about any more mention of the Malnosso from Oak at this point in time, since the topic of Pokemon is currently being discussed. And the Professor do have a few things to say about them, which will hopefully be uplifting and distracting for her]

Some from other worlds may view them as such, since there are a few similarities in how we treat our Pokemon, but we consider them our companions and friends. There are no other 'animal' in my world, since all of them are Pokemon. And all of them are born with these abilities, with the exception of a few who have been created by man - Porygon and Mewtwo being an example.

In that case, are people from your world primarily vegetarians?

No.

While we don't eat our partners, since we share a close bond with one another, we do eat certain Pokemon from the wild. However, it's a personal choice on the person whether to become vegetarian or not.

How generous of you. [Really it sounds a little complex. If that close a bond can be formed, doesn't it mean these creatures have some form of sentience? If that was so--why eat them? It would be like trying to eat a mailbird or her beloved Banchi]

Do any of the pokemon try to eat you?

[Oak had to double take at Robin's question, as it was completely unexpected. Still, it was something she wanted to know and he's going to do his best to give her an answer she will hopefully accept]

...Ahem, while there haven't been any reports of any Pokemon eating humans, they do have the potential to kill.

[He can recall some instances when Pokemon tried to take a life, but it was either due to Team Rocket's experiments or orders from the Elite Four. A few of the Pokedex Holders can atest to that, since their lives were the ones that were being threatened.]

I treat my Pokemon with the utmost of respect, so I disagree with your statement.

[He doesn't condone the abuse and mistreatment of any Pokemon and he cherishes his own as greatly as he does with his grandchildren, so why would she come up with a conclusion like that?]

I didn't mean to offend. I meant you in the general sense. After all, if pokemon don't eat humans but humans are inclined to eat them on occasion, it seems somewhat imbalanced, ne?

I suppose it is true in that regard, since we humans, in most cases, are on top of the food chain. But I would like to believe that we kill only to eat, which is a necessity in order to survive. Yes, we can live on fruits, vegetables, and nuts alone, but not everyone would like to go that route. It's a matter of one's personal feelings about Pokemon and whether they choose to eat one or not.

It sounds complicated. How do you feel about the animals here? Are you surprised at how different they are? Or are they similar to your creatures?

I'm not at all surprised, as I find both animal and Pokemon to be more similar than they seem. Both parties you can train and form a bond so strong that they become your best friend and ally. They both require proper care from their trainers or owners and they can defend themselves if necessary, with or without our aid. And those who are considered wild act exactly like any other Pokemon who're living in their natural habitat. The only difference I can think of at the top of my head are their appearances and their names.
