[On Day One, Robin will open the journal and look faintly bemused... ~~Though she's been waiting for the distraction.~~]

Well then, this is interesting. There seems to be Alabasta outside my window. [~~how familiar~~]

I hear pyramids are often rigged with death traps, curses and murder. [An open invitation to go exploring with her]

Days 1-2

[Either by going into a pyramid or falling through an unseen pit of sand, you will find Robin in the tombs, investigating hieroglyphs, treasures or mutilated mummies.]

Day 3

[Robin will be on a ~~not really~~ tame Mammoth, exploring the chilly countryside and might offer rides to weary passersby or, then again, might ignore them completely]

Days 4-5

[Robin will be relaxing in the Shogunate, you may find her reading under a cherry tree, dressed in the local wear though she does have an eye (or several) open in case of ninja]

I am currently looking for sand traps.

There are traps located throughout the area? I was not aware.

I would have brought my tricorder... but it was replaced with a rather interesting item of Egyptian nature.

[Spock observes Robin for a moment..] I would ask if you required assistance, but I believe that would be responded with a negative.

[She gives him a long thoughtful glance]

Of course you aren't aware. That's the nature of traps. However, you can help if you wish.

[If he inadvertently finds a death trap, it will be far less work for her]

What is a tricorder?

[Spock raises an eyebrow... he finds amusement in her logic.]

A tricorder is a handheld device capable of analyzing the data of most substances, both organic and inorganic.

It is standard Starfleet equipment.

How convenient. [But not particularly her area of interest. She scans the area for strange dips or depressions in the sand and finding one she blossoms a hand or two to sweep the sand away and discover what is underneath.]

Starfleet is a bit of a pretentious name, don't you think?

Pretentious? That is a matter of personal perception. However, the decision of name was not up to Vulcans...[The fact that Spock agreed with her was not a factor...]

I was not aware that you lived in this area.

Check over there. [She points to a depression in the sand that is likely a spike filled pit]

What is up to Vulcans, then?

[Spock raises an eyebrow...] The shift has only just started, it is only logical that you, like me, live in this surrounding area.

[Spock avoids the depression in the ground... hoping that Robin was warning him, and not wanting him to actually go over it...]

Vulcan's usually attempt to stay out of human politics... They are fueled by emotion. However, the decision making factors that the Vulcan high council has in regards to starfleet are substantial. Vulcans are the reason why humanity has the technological advance that it does...

Usually, yet you seem to be in the thick of it. So you can't say you're any less pretentious than 'Starfleet' is no matter what your species.

[A few hands grow from the sand to try and trigger the trap and it falls away to reveal a hole that goes deep underground. Hmm.]

It looks like a long way down. [she glances at Spock]

[Spock pauses at her suggestion...]

I am rather disinclined. [Spock gestures towards the hole... and arches an eyebrow.] However, it is part of most cultures to say 'ladies first'...

[though she does not jump so much as step into the hole, falling for most of the way before creating a hand net near the base.]

There seems to be a doorway here. But I can't read the writing....

[she pushes her sunglasses further up on her head and tries to trace the hieroglyphs with her fingers to get some sense of them]

[Spock holds in a noise of exasperation... And follows Robin into the hole.
It's a rather small space, but he maintains a certain distance... and observes the markings.]

Fascinating indeed. They follow Earth's ancient Egyptian hieroglyphs. My mother was always rather fond of that era.
I believe the message states a warning... and that the only way into the temple is through 'unmovable courage'...

......It appears we are sinking Miss Robin...

[She did not ask him to follow her but since he does she at least as the courtesy of leaving the net for him so he doesn't break both his legs. She is not going to take his word on the temple, though. She has no reason to trust his accuracy and it sounds a generic warning if anything.

She glances at him at his sinking statement]

It appears you are. [She, however, is sitting on a small seat of hands anchored to the wall]

That could be kind of doorway platform that moves on sand. Or it could be quicksand that will slowly crush you to death.

[She rests her chin on her hand and watches him]

I wonder which.

[Spock gives her a flat look...]

Would you be amenable to... helping me out of the quicksand?

Would I be amenable? No.

Will I do it anyway? That is the question.

[she watches him for a moment. Slowly sinking. It would be a horrible death if it is not a door. In which case it still might be a horrible death but at least a quick one. ]

Tell me why I should.

[Considering the situation... Spock still manages to give her a flat look... as if to say "are you serious?"...

But then yes.... she really is.]

What do you want to hear? I am at a loss for this form of interaction.

However... I believe the correct human response is that... I will owe you a debt?

[Silly Vulcan. She was going to save you anyway, even if she doesn't particularly like you, you haven't done anything to her yet. But since you are offering]

I'll hold you to that.

[You should know better than to make deals with the devil. Still, hands sprout from the walls and wrap around your arms, hauling you out of the sand. The sand shifts a little, but stills. It appears that there was no hidden door after all.]

Up or in, Vulcan-san?

[Spock is... willing to take his chances... Plus, he believes that Robin will not truly kill him.]

I would like to be removed from this hole... please, Miss Robin.

[She regards him for a moment. It would be easier to send him out... but on the other hand--she did not ask for his company and yet here he is]

How sad for you.

[And she continues to study the door, wondering how to get it open. There doesn't seem to be a keyhole of any kind. Perhaps just a big push?]

[Spock... waits.

He exhales a little more loudly than a normal Vulcan would, but that's not because he's showing impatience or anything...]

Sadness is a human emotion... However, if you require help, I will assist you... but I would need to be let go of...

In an appropriate place. [Spock decides to tack on that last bit.... just in case.]

It was a metaphor. [Though his words catch her] Do Vulcans not have sadness? Are they incapable or merely restrained?

[She doesn't need his help as such. So he'll just have to hang around]

We are... capable of experiencing sadness. However, I believe the word is 'controlled'....

[Spock tries to move... to see how solid a grip she has on him...

He would not want to hurt her...]

Controlled? Is it for a biological reason or cultural one?

[Her grip is sure though not tight. She frowns at him for wiggling since it takes more work to hold onto him]

Vulcan-san, the entire floor is quicksand. I don't know where it is you intend to go.
